  • Kuwait is a constitutional sovereign state with a semi-democratic political system. Kuwait has a World Bank high-income economy backed by the world's sixth largest oil reserves. The Kuwaiti dinar is the highest valued currency in the world.[14] According to the World Bank, the country has the nineteenth highest per capita income. The Constitution was promulgated in 1962. Kuwait is home to the largest opera house in the Middle East. The Kuwait National Cultural District is a member of the Global Cultural Districts Network.

  • Day 1

    11:00am-5:30pm : Kuwait City

    Day 2

    10:00am-10:30am : Sadu House

    Experience the culture of textile history at Sadu House and learn about the Kuwaiti art of weaving. Established in 1980 by the Al Sadu Society, the museum showcases traditional ethnic Bedouin handmade items, including Sadu weaving (handmade geometric embroidery). Talk to Bedouin women that craft over 70 different products per week and learn about the intricate process behind the threaded art. Seek out traditional textile products at the museum shop and bring home a part of the Bedouin cultural heritage.

    3:00pm-4:00pm : Kuwait Towers

    the city's signature landmark and the nation's most recognizable symbols, Kuwait Towers offer 360-degree views of the city and the Gulf. The three towers--with characteristic blue-green spheres covered with more than 41,000 enameled discs--were constructed during the 1970s. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed chose the design, which resembles a tiled dome of a mosque. The highest tower rises 187 m (614 ft) above the ground, featuring observation decks on two levels, plus a revolving restaurant and a cafe. In March 2016, the towers opened to the public after a major four-year refurbishment process.

    4:30pm-6:00pm : Souk Sharq

    Set on a seafront promenade, Souk Sharq started as an open-air market and went on to become one of the major shopping malls in Kuwait. The mall offers a combination of international chain stores, classy boutiques, and trendy designer shops, as well as restaurants and cafes with a sea view. Entertainment options include movie theaters, an amusement park, and a central plaza that features live performances and exhibits. The intriguing 5.5 m (18 ft) tall structure on the ground floor, serving as a water-clock and a thermometer, was designed by French physicist Professor Bernard Gitton.

    Day 3

    10:30am-1:00pm : Al Kout Beach

    An expanse of white sand overlooking the Persian Gulf, Al Kout Beach hosts a lively array of family-friendly activities as well as plenty of waterside leisure. Bask in front of refreshing cerulean waters and soak up the sun before wandering to one of many beachside cafes for an al fresco meal. Get active with a volleyball game or hop on a jet-ski. Note that you cannot wear a bikinis here, per local custom.

    2:00pm-5:00pm : Souk Al-Mubarakiya

    Indulge your senses with the aromas, colors, and textures at Souk Al-Mubarakiya, one of the oldest markets in Kuwait City. Browse through stands with olives and dates, honey and spices; sample perfumes like musk; and admire the intricate jewelry and antique shops. Bedouins sells their woven handicrafts here, and plenty of eateries offer a wide variety of food in this large, partially covered market. You can get traditionally brewed coffee and plenty of authentic souvenirs.

    5:30pm-6:00pm : Kuwaiti Maritime Museum, Salmiya

    Find your way to Kuwaiti Maritime Museum for a superb insight into the seafaring history of the Persian Gulf. The collection includes three wooden ships, illuminated at night to add charm to a historical exhibit. Other displays contain tools used by pearlers, such as nose pegs and woolen suits worn against jellyfish. Incredibly informative, the bilingual exhibit notes make the visit easier for foreign tourists interested in appreciating and learning about Kuwaiti maritime history.

    Day 4

    9:00am-11:00am : Spoons Complex

    11:30am-1:00pm : 360 Mall

    One of the country's largest shopping venues, 360 Mall features blown-glass sculptures by artist Dale Chihuly, Middle Eastern architectural design, and a solar garden with 21,000 vertically-growing plants. If you aren't interested in shopping, you will find other forms of entertainment here, including restaurants, cafes, movie theaters, event spaces, a bowling alley, and a flight simulator ride.

    1:30pm-3:30pm : Kuwait Zoo

    At Kuwait Zoo, meet the 1,800 species, including gargantuan vultures. The zoo suffered severe damage during the 1990 Iraqi invasion, when many animals were killed. The restored zoo features a section with animal enclosures, a cultural center, a veterinary clinic, and a maintenance center. Kids will enjoy a train ride through the zoo. Note that the zoo has received criticism for its small cages and old-fashioned breeding system. Read the latest reviews before you go if this may upset you.

    4:00pm-6:00pm : The Avenues

    The biggest shopping mall in the country and a favorite leisure destination for tourists and locals alike, The Avenues houses over 800 shops, including a vast selection of luxury brands. The interior features six thematic sections drawing inspiration from the surrounding dessert--blue skies and the sun on the one hand, and European and local storefronts on the other hand. The glass roof lets in natural light, which gives you the feel of an open-air space, while protecting you from the heat and the scorching sun. Be sure to check out art exhibits and trendy restaurants in SoKu, which is the section of the mall designed for hip teenagers and youngsters (that's clearly inspired by New York City's SoHo neighborhood).

    Day 5

    10:00am-12:00pm : Marina Mall

    Set on the Salmiya waterfront, Marina Mall offers designer shopping and international dining in a bright, contemporary setting. Opened in 2002, the retail center forms the central hub of the marina complex, with cafes, restaurants, and a cinema. Shop across two floors of stores, including high-end international brands. Likewise, chain cafes and eateries have your tastebuds covered.

    12:30pm-3:30pm : The Scientific Center

    xplore marine life and ponder of future of the environment at The Scientific Center, a center for ecological education in the Gulf. The facility has an IMAX theater and an enormous aquarium where 100 different species reside in 1.5 million liters (396,258 gallons) of space. Huge sharks and rays, giant spider crabs, mudskippers, and spotted sweetlips rank among the top exhibits. Explore the lives of humpback whales from their point of view in 3D adventure film, or go into space at the international space station. A large interactive learning center has an area in which children can make their own sand castles and learn about preservation of wildlife. Tour guides, a restaurant, and a cafe make this place more convenient to navigate.

    4:00pm-5:30pm : Bait Al Outhman Museum, Hawalli

    Meet the culture through history at Bait Al Outhman Museum, where you'll see artifacts, old furniture in different styles, tools, and photographs. Enter a former courtyard in Kuwaiti architectural style. Every room exhibits one aspect of history and tradition. See the room dedicated to Kuwait Airways, where the museum exhibits stewardesses' uniforms. Another room showcases ceremonial furniture, such as a wedding chair with ornaments. On site, try Arabic coffee and buy some souvenirs.

    Day 6

    10:00am-11:30pm : Kuwait National Museum

    Learn about the past and connect with history at Kuwait National Museum. Visit the archeological exhibit to see bronze cauldrons, coins, and figurines from the Hellenistic age alongside artifacts from the bronze age that include necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry. See an old, life-size market reconstruction, including replicas of shops and people, as well as a scene from a school. You'll find photographs of more recent history alongside artwork and experience the unique view of Kuwaiti history. End the tour at the planetarium lightshow and learn more about the universe and the world around you.

    12:00pm-1:30pm : Grand Mosque

    take a tour of Grand Mosque, Kuwait’s biggest mosque. Completed in 1986, the grandiose building is best known for its gargantuan main prayer hall, which can accommodate more than 10,000 people. A free guided tour runs a couple of times per day, so you can chat with the friendly and informative staff as you explore the vast, lavishly decorated rooms of the mosque.

    2:00pm-3:30pm : Alhamra tower and mall

    A visit to Alhamra tower and mall, the country’s tallest building, ensures a fun day spent shopping, dining, and having fun with the family. Prepare to be amazed by the modern architectural style of the so-called “twisted building,” with the strikingly different facades on every side. Inside, you’ll find yourself in a grand, spacious area dotted with a large number of luxury and high-class stores selling the world’s most famous brands. The site also features a huge cinema, and several restaurants where you can dine on local or international cuisine while enjoying views of Kuwait City.

    4:00pm-6:00pm : Mirror House

    Mirror House boasts radiant and colorful mosaics from inside out. The house exterior sharply contrasts with the suburban neighborhood, while its interior mosaics depict epic themes of earth, universe, sea, and knowledge. Today, each room is covered with mosaics from floor to ceiling. An art gallery upstairs features works by artists, some of which are for sale. This is a private museum and tours are ONLY possible by appointment! Reservations can be made for a Morning tour between 9 and 11 am. Afternoon reservations can be made between 4 and 6 pm. This is a 2hr guided tour.
